The Body of Man

The reader may have noticed that, in previous articles, I have repeated the words miracle, wonder, and marvel several times throughout this writing. I do not believe it can be written or said enough. So, I am writing it again! The creation of man and woman is our Creator’s most wondrous and marvelous miracle—made by His will, in His likeness, and meant to have constant fellowship with Him.

He created mankind with a spirit, a soul, and a body. To this point, I have given very brief teaching about the spirit and souls of a man and woman. Now we will take a look at their bodies.

The bodies of men and women by themselves are mere biological housings created by God from the earth, Adam being made directly from the earth and Eve being made from the rib of Adam, which was made from the earth. Formed in a woman’s womb by natural laws, bodies were and are made for the singular purpose of containing the spirit and soul. And when connected to the soul, it becomes a living organism that breathes, walks, talks, tastes, touches, hears, smells, and sees.

The body has no life in itself. It has no senses; it does not see, hear, taste, touch, or smell anything. It has the capability, but in itself, it cannot function. Only when the soul gives the body life do the body’s senses activate. The human brain cannot think nor tell the body what to do unless connected to the soul’s mind. Our will tells the mind what we want, and the body responds. The same is true for the heart of mankind. It is not the physical heart of a man that responds to feelings; instead, it is the connection of the heart of the soul to the physical heart that causes a reaction. The body is just dust made from the earth.

Some medical researchers publish findings that the physical human heart and the human brain contain some of the same chemistry, leading them to believe that the human heart can process information. I think it may be true. The brain and heart can work in unison to produce thoughts and feelings. I know that without the connection to the life-giving mind and heart of the soul, the brain and heart decay and return to dust.

Generations of doctors and scientists have been monitoring, dissecting, and probing bodies of every species, trying to discover why behaviors, sicknesses, and diseases occur. They claim to be helping mankind by obtaining knowledge that can be applied to reverse unwanted behavior and the effects of sickness and disease. They have no understanding of the eternal soul. Instead, they believe that all life is contained within the body, and when the body dies, life dies.

A belief that life is only directed by the body through its design and chemistry is a deception taught by those who do not understand God’s creation of man and woman. This is not to say that bodily health cannot affect the soul’s health because it most certainly can and does. A broken body can affect the soul enormously.

However, because scientists do not know that mankind is a living soul, they fail to understand what the body feels, the soul feels; what the body sees, the soul sees; what the body hears, the soul hears; what the body smells, the soul smells. It is the soul that responds to all the senses of the bodily senses. The soul responds to pain if the nerves of the body are damaged. And likewise, when the nerves of the body are soothed, the soul feels pleasure. If no soul is living in the body, no pain or pleasure is residing in the body. However, we know that there remains both pleasure and pain within the soul after the body’s death and that when the soul is not dwelling in the body, the soul feels, sees, smells, hears, and tastes without the body.

The story we read of a poor man named Lazarus teaches us about the body’s death and the continuance of the soul’s senses. Luke 16:19–31:

“Now there was a rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, enjoying himself in splendor every day. And a poor man named Lazarus was laid at his gate, covered with sores, and longing to be fed from the scraps which fell from the rich man’s table; not only that, the dogs also were coming and licking his sores. Now it happened that the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s arms; and the rich man also died and was buried. And in Hades he raised his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his arms. And he cried out and said, “Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus, so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.” But Abraham said, “Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set, so that those who want to go over from here to you will not be able, nor will any people cross over from there to us.” And he said, “Then I request of you, father, that you send him to my father’s house—for I have five brothers—in order that he may warn them, so that they will not come to this place of torment as well.” But Abraham said, “They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.” But he said, “No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!” But he said to him, “If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.”

The wondrous connection of the soul to the body and the body to the soul is how mankind lives. The spiritual health of the soul can affect the health of the body. And likewise, the health of the body can affect the soul’s health.

When God created mankind, male and female, they were perfect, and God was well pleased. Their bodies were unblemished, and neither Adam nor Eve focused on their bodies. Their focus was on their innermost man, the spirit. Then they disobeyed God and ate the forbidden fruit from the tree. Adam and Eve immediately became conscious of their bodies. We read in Scripture that Adam and Eve covered themselves with fig leaves and hid. After they disobeyed God’s command, their bodies were cursed. Their bodies would decay and eventually die. They would return to the earth from which they were made.

The serpent had lied to Adam and Eve, and they both listened to the lie. When Adam and Eve acted on the lie, their spirits died and separated from their souls and bodies. Today, we must recognize that the same lying spirit that deceived mankind and caused the separation of mankind’s spirit from their souls is now trying to separate mankind’s bodies from their souls. The same lying spirit plans to isolate mankind’s souls from any kind of truth or reality, thus resulting in the effect that no man or woman would have the ability or choice to be restored to their Creator.

The human body can be dulled through technology and medicines to the point where the connection to the soul is hindered, thus hindering the soul’s communication with the body and creating a broken link of communication between the human soul and the human body. This is similar to the broken communication link between the unredeemed soul and the non-restored human spirit. Dulling the body through drugs and alcohol will affect alert communication between the soul and the body.

We must fight against the temptation to not feel pain. We must resist the temptation to live forever in a form other than God our Creator has for us. We must never submit ourselves to science that would promote a false life. We must fight against an enemy who wants to dull our bodies to the point that we lose our spiritual awareness and mute the voice of the Holy Spirit.

I am not talking about legitimate medicines that we use to help us. I am talking about the abuses that take place every day: taking medication for everything, not being willing to exercise, eat properly, and live a life seeking our Creator. Scripture states, “A merry heart does good like a medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.” We should do all we can to maintain good health, but we must be on guard and listen to what God tells us.

Virtual reality replaces the body’s movement and the soul’s responses to reality. If the body ceases to move and the soul is influenced by false stimulation, then the soul’s control can be fed lies and false facts that will eventually lead to eternal death.

And now transhumanism is coming to replace what God created from the earth and breathed His life into. Evil wants to make a metal body with a programmed mind that man can be connected to. It thus eliminates the ability to be born again because the spirit is not present. Evil’s plan is to kill us—to destroy our spirits, kill our souls, and kill our bodies! This evil will be allowed to reveal itself to a certain point, but God will step in, and we will see an end to it all.

Men and women believe that their identity is what they see in the mirror. Our Creator knows that what we see in the mirror is not our identity. The body we see in the mirror is given to us through the natural laws of creation, through the mating of our biological parents. Our body is neither beautiful nor ugly to I Am Who I Am, our Creator.

So while society may dictate what is beautiful and try to manipulate the way we feel and think about ourselves, God has no part in it. For generations, cultures worldwide have had different views about beauty. Those who do not fit into society’s ideas of beauty or normalcy are isolated as though they do not matter or are less than others. How foolish mankind is. Remember that Adam and Eve became self-conscious and made fig leaves to cover themselves. Now we make fig leaves of gold and silk, makeup, hairstyles, clothing, and such to make ourselves fit in and be admired. This is not God’s thinking toward us. This is the fallen nature of mankind’s way of thinking.

Much time is spent on the care of the body, while very little time is spent caring for the spirit and soul. Men and women exercising their bodies to be admired by other men and women and not exercising their spirits and souls to that would bring the admiration of the Creator. Men and women will spend five hours or more a week at the gym working on their bodies and will not spend an hour a week praying to their Creator, reading Scripture, or setting foot in a church.

The body is a mystery as much as the soul and the spirit of mankind. We must discern who wants to destroy it and who wants to give it health. We must understand the tactics of the evil that wants us to be gluttons, lazy, medicated, living in a virtual world, dulled to the point of life no longer being lived as I Am Who I Am created us to live.

Mankind is designed to always have a body, just as Jesus has always had a body. When Jesus was resurrected from the dead, the body in which He died was changed into a new body. His new body has all the senses and structure of the old body. However, His new body has even more ability. His new body is not corrupted by sin. It is perfect and healthy. With His Spirit, His soul is living within and in ideal connection. Please read this brief story from Luke 24:13–35.

“And behold, on that very day two of them were going to a village named Emmaus, which was sixty stadia from Jerusalem. And they were talking with each other about all these things which had taken place. While they were talking and discussing, Jesus Himself approached and began traveling with them. But their eyes were kept from recognizing Him. And He said to them, “What are these words that you are exchanging with one another as you are walking?” And they came to a stop, looking sad. One of them, named Cleopas, answered and said to Him, “Are You possibly the only one living near Jerusalem who does not know about the things that happened here in these days?” And He said to them, “What sort of things?” And they said to Him, “Those about Jesus the Nazarene, who proved to be a prophet mighty in deed and word in the sight of God and all the people, and how the chief priests and our rulers handed Him over to be sentenced to death, and crucified Him. But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened. But also some women among us left us bewildered. When they were at the tomb early in the morning, and did not find His body, they came, saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said that He was alive. And so some of those who were with us went to the tomb, and found it just exactly as the women also had said; but Him they did not see.” And then He said to them, “You foolish men and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and to come into His glory?” Then beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He explained to them the things written about Himself in all the Scriptures. And they approached the village where they were going, and He gave the impression that He was going farther. And so they strongly urged Him, saying, “Stay with us, for it is getting toward evening, and the day now nearly over.” So He went in to stay with them. And it came about, when He had reclined at the table with them, that He took the bread and blessed it, and He broke it and began giving it to them. And then their eyes were opened and they recognized Him; and He vanished from their sight. They said to one another, Were our hearts not burning within us when He was speaking to us on the road, while He was, while He was explaining the Scriptures to us?” And they got up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together and those who were with them, saying, “The Lord has really risen and has appeared to Simon!” They began to relate their experiences on the road, and how He was recognized by them at the breaking of the bread.”

While His old body was corrupted and subject to death, His new body is not nor ever will be. The type of body in which He now lives is the same type of body He promised to all mankind who acknowledge and receive His forgiveness of sin. He is the first to receive this new body, and He promises that we will receive the same. We will be presented to heaven as whole men and women: spirit, soul, and body.
